Before I went to sleep,
I prayed, "God show me
what I need to do,
I can't take this anymore."
That night I had a dream
I was in a classroom.
I wasn't a teacher,
they weren't students,
but we were in a classroom.
I took a black marker
and started drawing
on the whiteboard.
I drew a small dot
and a large wave that
stretched to three boards.
"The amount of hopelessness,
I have experienced is a speck
compared to the amount of hope
I found when I knew God," I told them.
It's been almost 14 years since
I decided to put my hope in God.
I woke up and vividly remembered
my dream. I remember the wave
I drew that represented my hope in God.
When I asked God to show me
what to do, I didn't think I'd get
an answer so quickly.
So as the person who was
making drawings on the whiteboards
in my dream, to share about hope,
I share it with you in my poem.
The hope you have in God
will not disappoint you.
Especially in times like these,
it is that hope that saves me.
